William “Bill” Marvin McMurry, II, 68

September 19, 1956  –  February 11, 2025

Tupelo – Bill McMurry Jr., 68, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at NMMC in Tupelo.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bill was born in Okolona on September 15, 1956, to the late William and Mary Ann Phillips McMurry.  He received his education from the Mooreville public school system and then worked construction for many years before retiring.  Known as a big “teddy bear” with a big heart, he was known to be a little stubborn, hard headed, and a bit mischievous.  It wasn’t very often but you could find him quiet, watching birds, especially cardinals, fishing, gardening and tending his chickens.  He was very crafty with his hands and loved playing with his favorite canine, Boo-Boo.

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Kreistie Lewis, from Chattanooga, TN,  one son, B.J. McMurry of Shannon, his 2nd mother, Von Murphy, one brother, Danny McMurry of Sherman, two sisters, Jackie Whitlock and Alicia McMurry of Tupelo, five grandchildren, Sgt. Tray Jett, Atiana Jett, Will, Leigha, Braxton McMurry, a special Neice, Rose Young and nephew, Daniel McMurry.  Those preceeding him in death were his parents, one brother, John Justice and one sister, Susie White.
