Youlanda Marie Thompson, 60
March 29, 1966 – June 9, 2026
Youlanda Marie Thompson, of Saltillo, Mississippi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Lovingly known as “YoYo” or “Yo,” she never met a stranger.
She was known for her warm spirit, her humor, and her love of sharing stories and family history. Gentle and mild-mannered, Youlanda had a special love for children and brought joy to those around her.
She accepted Christ at a young age and was a lifelong woman of faith. She was a member of Chander’s Temple CME in her youth, later attended Palmetto CME, and eventually joined Trace Crossing, where she remained until her health declined.
She graduated from Shannon High School in 1984. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, playing games, watching movies, listening to music, and cooking. She spent the majority of her life working in the food service industry, where her kindness and dedication touched many.
Youlanda is survived by her sisters, Bryant Robinson of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Dorothy Beard of Kokomo, Indiana; her brothers, Fredrick Dabbs (Janice) of Tupelo, Mississippi, Michael Thompson of Palmetto, Mississippi, and Henry Mallard of Shannon, Mississippi; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherish Joi Thompson; her parents, Herbert and Georgia Thompson; and her brothers, Simmie Dabbs, Sammie Johnson, and Linzie Mallard.
Youlanda will be remembered for her kind heart, loving spirit, and deep compassion for others.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Church 3:16, Creekside Manor Assisted Living, NMHC ICU, and the NMHC Hospice Unit for their care and compassion during her final days.
