New Albany Deputy Fire Chief and Mississippi Firefighter’s Association 1St Vice President, Mark Whiteside, attended the annual conference of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs in Biloxi last week to promote not only the MS Firefighter’s Association and Mississippi Fire Chief’s Association, but our City as well.  Fire Departments, Chiefs, and representatives from 10 southeastern states were in attendance at this week-long conference to gather knowledge and network for the future.

“Our main purpose in attending this meeting was to promote our state-wide organization, and gather support for the betterment of the fire services for our citizens, and the city/county governments we represent.  When I accepted this position, both with the city and the Firefighter’s association, I committed to do everything possible to advance our department, along with each person I represent statewide, as much as I could.  When I introduce myself, I do so with the last words that I am with the City of New Albany Fire Dept.  I want to be a positive influence, and a good ambassador for our city with each individual I meet and speak to,” Whiteside said.

“New Albany is a great place to live and be from, with good people, and I love to brag about our city when I talk to different people from all over the nation.  Not everybody from our city and county realizes how blessed we are to have the dedicated fire service folks we have.”
