Baptist Union County names Dr. H. F. Mason as chief medical officer
NEW ALBANY, MISS., Sept. 11, 2018 – Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County recently named Dr. H.F. Mason as its chief medical officer.
He will have direct responsibility for medical staff relations, and will focus on quality of care, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency for physician-driven services, according to the hospital’s CEO and administrator, Walter Grace.
Dr. Mason, who also serves as the hospital’s chief of surgery, will continue his general surgery practice at Baptist Medical Group-New Albany Surgical Associates.
A native of New Albany, Dr. Mason is well-known and respected among his medical colleagues and community members, according to hospital leadership. He and his wife, Laura, have five children, and are active in the community.
He attended medical school at the University of Mississippi and completed his residency at Vanderbilt University.
“Dr. Mason is a perfect fit for this role,” said Walter Grace. “He has an outstanding knowledge of best practices in surgery, and has a firm grasp of how physicians and hospital leadership can work together to produce the best possible experience for patients and families.”
Baptist Union County offers a variety of health care services, including adult and pediatric inpatient services, labor and delivery, cancer center, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour expanded emergency room. The hospital also offers telemedicine and comprehensive diagnostic services, including an American College of Radiology-accredited MRI machine.
