Suspected drive-by shooter arrested quickly in New Albany

Less than 45 minutes after Tuesday’s drive-by shooting at the New Albany KFC, a sharp-eyed Union County deputy sheriff caught the suspected drive-by shooter within the New Albany city limits.

A few minutes after the shooting the New Albany Police Department (NAPD) put out a BOLO (“be on look out”) alert for the vehicle and its occupants.

The deputy sheriff spotted the car, called it in, and several law enforcement officers converged to take the armed suspect into custody. Four occupants of the car were taken in. Two were released, and another individual was held on an unrelated charge.

Taken into custody for the drive-by shooting was Kendall Moore, a 35-year-old black male, of 415 North St., New Albany.

Moore, believed to be the drive-by shooter, was booked into the Union County jail on charges of “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” and “possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.”

It is believed Moore had formerly been employed at KFC and may have had a relationship with another employee there.

Moore’s bond was set at $75,000 on the aggravated assault charge and $5,000 for the weapon possession.

According to Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards, Moore had not posted bond and was still in jail as of 7 pm today.
