(New Albany, Miss., June, 2019) The New Albany Community Development and Main Street office invites everyone to enjoy Freedom Fest 2019 Tallahatchie River Days this weekend!

Entertainment kicks off Thursday, June 27 at Biscuits & Jam Farmers’ Market with music from The Busty Petites along with local produce from several local growers, specialty breads and goat cheese, artist J-Man, and Camp Creek Natives in the Main Street Demo Booth.

Friday evening, June 28, at 6 pm, enjoy Elvis and The Southaven Boomers as they bring you hits of the 50s and 60s while local vintage car owners cruise up and down Bankhead and Main Streets. Cars will be parked at the farmers’ market following the cruise until 8 pm. Get close, take pictures, and socialize with the owners of these classic beauties. A children’s carnival and concession will be set up and running at 5 pm on Friday, making this a great family outing.

Saturday, June 29 starts early with Pedaling for Hope on Tanglefoot Trail bike ride. All ages and abilities are welcome. Morning sign up starts at 7 am and will be taken at Bankhead Bicycle Club located at 108 W Bankhead. The ride starts at 8 am sharp! After party will be at BBC with lunch and music from IMPORT/EXPORT. Blackberry Jubilee begins at 9 am. Makers, art, and food vendors, American League Cornhole tournaments, homemade ice cream churned by a tractor, pony rides, & Smoke on the Water grill competition will be happening until 3 pm, with the carnival starting up at lunchtime. Tombigbee Divide and Terry “Harmonica” Bean will be on the farmers’ market stage playing bluegrass and blues music.

The evening will end at the Riverview Stage with an awesome showcase of music featuring headliner Sam Mosley of the Mosley Johnson Band with the Muscle Shoals Horns. Supporting music acts are Massey Tate, Twenty2Seven, and Dirty Streets. Music will go on until 10pm and end with a fireworks show.

Freedom Fest 2019 Tallahatchie River Days offers a unique experience to community members and visitors to be inspired by the arts and make social connections. All concerts on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are free and everyone is welcome to bring a chair or blanket to relax on and a frisbee or football to toss around. Tallahatchie River Days is organized by the New Albany Community Development and Main Street offices and is partially funded by a grant through Visit Mississippi.
