For Immediate Release:

Land slide closes State Route 9 Choctaw County

WHO: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).

WHAT: Emergency highway closure.

WHEN: Beginning Friday, February 21.

WHERE: State Route 9 between Ackerman and Eupora approximately 6 miles north of State Route 12 in Choctaw County.

WHY: Persistent rainfall has caused a land slide along State Route 9. The highway is closed to through traffic between Reform-Sturgis Road and State Route 790.

Warning signs are in place. A detour will be in place using U.S. Highway 82, State Route 15 and State Route 12.

The highway will remain closed until MDOT engineers can determine the severity of the slide and formulate a repair plan.
