(Timestamp 1:05) Bubba Carpenter from Priority Ambulance addressed the board to thank the county for its business and asked if there were any questions. Board president CJ Bright said there were some questions he’d like to ask after the meeting.

(2:10) The board discussed quotes for repairs to the courthouse. The low bid to repair the stone cap was $26, 790 from SWR (Structural Waterproofing Restoration). Adams Waterproofing also bid $35,000. Since some revisions were needed on the contract, Board Attorney Chandler Rogers advised that the board approve the low bid subject to his approval, and the board did so.

(3:50 – 7:40) Agenda items 1. b. through 3. a. were approved with minimal discussion.

(7:40) The board discussed quotes received for a countywide fuel trailer. Farm Service Solutions in Tennessee submitted a quote for $5,500. Best Trailers and Supply in Georgia bid $7,495. The board accepted the lower bid from Farm Service Solutions.

(11:30) Quotes were received for the purchase of two trucks for the Sheriff’s Department, a Ram and a GMC. Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said that the funds would come out of the drug asset seizure fund.

  • For a 2026 Dodge 1500: Mandal Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram bid $51,715 and Landers bid $54,091. The board accepted the lower bid from Mandal.
  • For a GMC 1500: Cannon bid $69,565 and Barnes Crossing Chevrolet bid $72,435. The lower bid from Cannon was accepted.

(14:35) Tax Assessor reported 79 delinquencies in property taxes, two returned checks still outstanding. A total of little over $18,000 has not been collected for mobile homes. Delinquent property holders will receive a tax lien and the claims will be turned over to American Financial Credit services (a collection agency). Returned checks are turned over to the District Attorney and the tax office will continue working with homeowners for outstanding payments on mobile homes.

Additionally, two properties escaped taxation due to clerical errors by the tax assessors office. There are no penalties but the owners will be required to pay the increased amount on the previous years.

The board then recessed to October 19, 2026.
