Shop the Block for bargains, treats and fun to help Boys and Girls Club

The New Albany Main Street Association is sponsoring another “Shop the Block for Charity” event Friday, Oct. 30, this time to benefit the Boys and Girls Club. A percentage of all member food and retail sales will go to the club.

The theme for the Halloween Eve celebration will be “Trick or Treat Trail,” which encourages visitors to wear costumes and come for candy and other activities while they shop.

Participating Main Street partners will be open for late-night shopping from 5 to 8. p.m. Bankhead Street from the Trailhead Plaza to Farm Bureau will be closed to through traffic so families can enjoy a fun fall evening in historic downtown New Albany.

Participating merchants will have tents, specials, give-a-ways, and more. The Union County Library, Kountry Kids Daycare, Highland House, Boys & Girls Club and First Baptist Church will be setting up trick-or-treat stops.

Local churches and organizations are sponsoring candy and games stations as well. Union County Anchor members will be playing games for candy prizes. Local favorites Tiki Sno Hut and Caddie’s Lemonade Stand will be there.
