Narcotics officers raid Northeast Mississippi stores for selling illegal drugs
]For several months, the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit (NMNU) and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) have been conducting a joint investigation into the sale of an illegal Schedule I Controlled Substance. This product was being sold under the counter at several convenience stores in Lee, Monroe, Itawamba, and Tishomingo County. NMNU and MBN received dozens of complaints about sales to minors and adults of this substance. The chemical being sold is known as synthetic cannabinoids. The chemical / product is not approved by the FDA and is a schedule I narcotic that is classified as a felony if possessed or sold in the State of Mississippi.
NMNU and MBN have been conducting undercover purchases for several months at these stores, resulting in multiple search warrants being conducted on Tuesday 2/2/21 at the following locations by the NMNU:
- Saltillo Chevron Store, 362 East Mobile Street, Saltillo, MS. Ashokkumar Patel (Bond 90,000) and Klayton Cox (Bond 10,000) were arrested for Felony Sale of a Controlled Substance. Vape cartridges and vape liquid containing a controlled substance were seized at this location.
- Short Street Beer Store, 102 Short Avenue, Nettleton, MS. Ala Jamal Fadel (Bond 30,000) was arrested for Felony Sale of a Controlled Substance.
- Auburn Chevron Store, 1241 CR 931, Lee County. {This person’s charges expunged by court order} (Bond 30,000) and Jessica Faiella (Bond 10,000) was arrested for Felony Sale of a Controlled Substance.
- Aberdeen Chevron Store, 316 Highway 145, Aberdeen, MS. Mohammed Abdullah Alrazki and Tiffany Cantrell were arrested for Felony Sale of a Controlled Substance. Multiple containers of a controlled substance were seized.
NMNU was assisted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, the Saltillo Police Department, the Nettleton Police Department, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
This investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
