Structure at entrance to Historic North Side demolished

Drivers along Highland Tuesday morning were slowed by heavy equipment and yellow tape. They slowed even more when they realized the old house at the intersection of Highland and Madison was being demolished.

The structure had been unoccupied for some time. Owners had hoped to renovate it for use as something like a bed and breakfast or other visitor housing but when that proved impractical decided to have it demolished.

The property will now be available for development or other use.
