Union County Schools’ “Tarzan” production nearing sell-out status
The Union County Schools will present “Tarzan” October 2-4, 2015. Performances will be at 7:00 PM on Friday October 2nd; at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday October 3rd; and at 2:00 PM on Sunday October 4th. The Saturday matinee at 1:00 PM was added to the schedule when tickets for the other three performances sold out.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
The two-act musical, based on the 1924 novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. The music and lyrics for “”n were written by Phil Collins, the Englishman who has won seven Grammy Awards and two Golden Glove Awards and who was both the lead singer and the drummer for 34 years, 1976 – 2010, for the rock band Genesis.
“Tarzan” is part of the Union County Schools theater program, which came into being under the guidance of Ken Basil, Union County Schools’ Superintendent of Education. The program is one of several extracurricular activities initiated by Basil to encourage students to attend class regularly and keep their grades up.
Students, whether they participate as actors, stage managers, ticket sellers or otherwise, must maintain good grades to be eligible to participate in the drama program, as in other available extracurricular activities sponsored by Union County Schools.
