New Albany dog park officially opens Saturday

A dog park has been one of the most-requested improvements for the City of New Albany in every focus Community Development Director Billye Jean Stroud said she could recall.

On Saturday, the city’s dog park was officially opened.

The park, adjacent to the tennis complex on Tallahatchie Trails, is in two sections. The larger one is for large dogs and a smaller one for small dogs.

About the only cost was for fencing, although the parks do have benches, water troughs and waste cleanup stations.

Stroud said the park is already seeing heavy use and that people are treating it responsibly, cleaning up after their dogs.

The park is open when Tallahatchie Trails is open.

Large signs at the entrances explain the rules for park use.
