Kaye Coggin Dabbs, 77
Diane Kaye Coggin Dabbs was born in Williamsburg,Virginia on July 24, 1945 to the union of Benton Guie “B.G.” Coggin and Jenith McCay Coggin. She was born into eternal life at an early age at First Baptist Church-Nettleton and entered the joys of the Kingdom from her longtime Nettleton area residence on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023 after a one week bout with cancer. Kaye was 77 years old. She attended Nettleton Public Schools graduating in 1963 where she was active in the Band as Drum Major and Majorette. She married Tommy Dabbs on Dec. 27, 1964. To this union was created one of the closest and most special families in these parts, the 6 Dabbs children and their families, all of whom were Kaye’s pride and joy.
“Mimi” was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and was selflessly and totally devoted to her family. She made them laugh, she lifted them up with her ceaseless encouragement and coddling and she made them all feel special and unconditionally loved. Kaye attended Mississippi State University where she was a Majorette and received her BS in English from MSCW, now Mississippi University for Women. Kaye taught school while Tommy was in basic training before becoming a mother. She loved playing the piano and excelled at it sharing her talents as longtime pianist at Nettleton UMC and First Baptist Church in Aberdeen and at other events in the community. Kaye was a beacon of Christian stewardship in the way she lived her life unselfishly, with kindness to all and malice towards none.
She was the epitome of the “Virtuous woman” spoken about in Proverbs 31-a wonderful extension of her Mother’s personality, presence and joy. Her sweet spirit magnified the lives of others and was an example to all who were privileged to know her. Kaye was a strong supporter of the ministries of CrossPointe Church in Nettleton-and all things Nettleton especially the Nettleton HS Band. She loved her home and the light was always on as a haven for those struggling or for anyone needing the calming reassurance, the helping hand or an “atta boy” from this sweet lady. Well Done Kaye!! Your earthly pilgrimage among us reminded us of the face of Christ in our midst everyday!! We will always thank God on every remembrance of you!!
