The City of Pontotoc will be making the repairs to a gas line damaged today on South Central Ave.

According to information from New Albany Fire Chief Mark Whiteside, Pontotoc gas is on the scene of a motor vehicle incident that that damaged a gas line.

It appears a vehicle of some sort left the roadway, ran over the gas lines, caught a guy wire and ran through some bushes. Some of the bushes were pulled down across the driveway, blocking it.

The vehicle left pieces of OTS (off tool sample) grille and mirror, and left the scene of the damages.

Traffic was blocked at the scene for safety purposes.

“The scene is now secure and the danger is eliminated,” said Chief Whiteside.

Pontotoc crews were working to finish at the scene as this story was written in the early evening.

The NAFD reported the information to the New Albany Police Department.

Further developments will be posted if they arise.
