Shirley McDonald, 82

October 25, 1942 – March 17, 2025

Shirley F. Robbins McDonald, a cherished and sweet soul, departed from this world on March 17, 2025, in New Albany, MS, at the age of 82, at New Albany Health and Rehab. Born on October 25, 1942, in Union County, MS, to the late Delmar Robbins and Mildred Nobles Robbins, Shirley was a beacon of love and selflessness throughout her life.

Shirley, lovingly known as a gentle and caring individual by all who knew her, will be remembered for the warmth and kindness she brought into the lives of others. Her legacy of love is carried on by her devoted daughter, Barbara McDonald Cox (Kenny); her son, Bobby McDonald (Diane); her adored grandchildren, Brandy Cox Rickman (Brandon), and Mandy Sullivan; as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Ellie Claire Rickman, Peyton Ligon, and Savannah Sullivan; and her precious great-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Grady Ash. Shirley also leaves behind her brother, Joe Nobles. She was lovingly reunited in death with her beloved husband, Bobby G. McDonald, and her parents.

Shirley’s professional life was marked by a successful career in the furniture industry, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who worked alongside her.

A woman of faith, Shirley was an active and devoted member of Neely Baptist Church before her health declined. Her involvement in church functions went beyond mere attendance; she poured her heart and soul into the life of the church community. Shirley’s love for the Lord was evident in her daily life and in the way she treated others with compassion and grace.

Shirley found joy in the simplicity of a good fishing hole. Her happiest moments were often those spent with a line in the water, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the company of family. These simple pleasures were the threads that wove the tapestry of a life well-lived.

Shirley’s selfless nature often led her to put the needs of others before her own, making her a pillar of strength and support within her family. Her gentle spirit and loving heart left an indelible impression on everyone she met, and her memory will be treasured forever.

As we bid farewell to Shirley, we celebrate a life full of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. Her bright light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her, and her spirit will live on in the cherished memories shared by friends and family. Shirley’s departure from this earth is not an end, but a transition to a heavenly home where she will watch over us until we meet again.
