Leora Avenell Edwards, 91
February 21, 1934 – April 17, 2025
Leora Avenell Edwards was born on February 21, 1934, to Lawrence and Fannie Edwards of Palmetto, MS. She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined the Palmetto C.M.E. Church. Leora was a 1954 graduate from George Washington Carver High School in Tupelo, MS, where she played on the girl’s basketball team and sang in the school choir. She retired as a licensed practical nurse from North Mississippi Medical Center after a long-standing career.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and caregiving. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Leora leaves to cherish her memories three children Terrell C. Edwards, Ruthlyn E. Partlow (Walter Jr.), Florence R. Terry of Tupelo, MS. Her brother Obie “BB” Edwards of Tupelo, MS. Five grandchildren Marcus D. Rogers, Tory D. Edwards, Amber C. Terry (Randy), Alexis Goree Wilkins (Ryan), and Aftan Goree all from Tupelo, MS. Eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings. She cherished her relationship with family and lived a blessed life of 91 years.
