Teresa Huffstickler Garrett, 69

Teresa Louise Huffstickler Garrett, 69, of New Albany, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, following a brief illness.



Born on September 20, 1955, in New Albany, Teresa was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend whose warmth and vibrant spirit touched many lives.

Affectionately known as “Ressa” by her siblings, Teresa had a deep love for nature, especially her plants and animals. Her compassion extended beyond her home and into her community, where she was a cherished member of the furry fandom. Known as “PandaMom” at the Memphit Fur Meet convention, she brought joy, kindness and a sense of belonging to all who knew her.

Teresa is survived by her devoted daughter, Abra Floyd (JB Snider) of Frisco, Texas; two sisters, Cecilia Hill of New Albany, MS and Susan (Glenn) Vandevender of Flora, MS and two brothers, Anthony DeVaughn (Jean) of Meridian, MS and Sam DeVaughn (Barkley) of Boyle, MS.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Loretta Huffstickler Goldsby; her grandmother, Bessie Louise Huffstickler; and a host of cherished family members and friends whose memories she carried with love.

In accordance with Teresa’s wishes, there will be no visitation or formal service. Those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to make a donation in her name to the Cleveland-Bolivar County Animal Shelter, 200 W. Carpenter Street, Cleveland, MS 38732. Phone: 662-846-1155.
