Fred James Rattine, 70
July 23, 1955 – July 31, 2025
Tupelo – After a long battle with dementia, Fred Rattine aka “Homie” was relieved of duty and called home to Jesus, Thursday, July 31, 2025. He was 70 years of age. He was born to Albert and Elizabeth Rattine on July 23, 1955, in Barnesville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Teresa Rattine. He is survived by his wife Linda Rattine of Tupelo; two older brothers Tom Rattine (Ann) of St. Clairsville, OH and Ed Rattine (Teresa – deceased) of Barnesville, OH; one nephew Dave Rattine, two nieces Angie Jefferis and family and Elizabeth Flaherty and family. Fred graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University with a BA in Psychology and from the University of Cincinnati with an MBA. He served proudly for four years in the United States Navy. He worked in numerous and varied manufacturing companies in management and later worked in sales. Fred was soft-hearted, always willing to help those who were in need and was the rescuer of many stray animals that had the good fortune of coming to his home. He would carefully interview possible adoptees and make sure the animals were placed in good homes – one time even buying back a cat that he didn’t feel was in the right home. He came to know Jesus as his Savior later in life but grew a strong faith in God. His family thanks all who continued to love and support him throughout this long and difficult dementia journey for helping him remember who he was and that he had value. We would like to encourage anyone reading this if you know someone with this devastating disease, be there, love them – they and their families need you! Thank you to the wonderful staff at Sanctuary Hospice for the great care we received while there – for the love and support given to us, thank you, thank you, thank you!
