Herman McCurry Lesley, Jr., 82, of New Albany, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2025. Born on October 1, 1943, Herman was the oldest son of Herman Lesley, Sr. and Jessie Little Lesley (who died in 1955), and was lovingly raised as well by his stepmother, Ella Earl Lesley. He grew up in a close-knit family alongside his brothers, the late John David Lesley and the late James Larry Lesley. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joanne Cousar Lesley, his nephews Brian (Emily), Ben, and Matt Lesley (Amanda), and great nephews and nieces Beckett, Gina Grace, John Scott, Cathryn, Dottie, Tessa Kate, Cam, Grace, and Ashton Lesley.

Herman was a proud graduate of W.P. Daniel High School and the University of Mississippi. He had a strong work ethic and steady character he carried throughout his life. He dedicated many years to serving his community through his work as a surveyor with Foley Engineering, with Union County Soil Conservation, and later with the City of New Albany as Assistant Building Inspector. He was a longtime member of Old Blue Hunting Club.

A member of Cleveland Street Presbyterian Church, Herman lived out his quiet faith with sincerity and humility. He found great joy in the simple things hunting, fishing, football, and time spent outdoors. But nothing meant more to him than the moments shared with his nephews and their children, whom he loved deeply and proudly.

Herman will be remembered for his calm presence, steady dependability, and genuine kindness. He was a man who showed love not through many words, but through a lifetime of faithfulness, loyalty, and care for those around him.

A graveside service will be held at New Harmony Cemetery on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2pm where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his life.
