Suit against Presley family claims that John Travolta’s child is Elvis’s great-grandchild
A lawsuit from Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko (former business partners of Elvis Presley’s widow Priscilla) claims that one of actor John Travolta’s children is Elvis Presley’s great-grandchild via an egg donation from Presley’s granddaughter, actress Riley Keough. The suit claims that Keough received “an old Jaguar” and “between $10,000 — $20,000” in exchange for her egg donation. Kruse and Fialko claim the 2013 donation resulted in the birth of a now 15-year-old child to Travolta and his late wife Kelly Preston. This would have been after Travolta and Preston tragically lost their eldest son Jett after he suffered a seizure at age 16 in 2009. Preston herself died of cancer in 2020.
The Presley family and Keough have denied these claims. Public reporting does not make it clear what relevance the salacious claim has to the lawsuit, in which Kruse and Fialko accuse Priscilla Presley’s son, Navarone Garcia, of breach of contract. In a separate lawsuit, Kruse and Fialko are suing Priscilla Presley herself for $50 million, alleging breach of contract, fraud, and misappropriation of her own name, image, and likeness.
Priscilla Presley’s lawyers issued a statement saying that, “Brigitte Kruse, Kevin Fialko, and their co-conspirators have demonstrated that there is no bar too low, no ethical line that they are unwilling to cross in an effort to cause further pain to Priscilla Presley and her family”. While Presley’s statement called Kruse and Fialko’s actions “shameful”, it did not specifically reject the egg donation claim.
This has already been a trying year for the Presley family. Earlier this year, a Missouri woman launched a brazen attempt to steal Graceland from the Presley family heirs. She was recently sentenced to 4 years in prison for the scheme.
Senate GOP may soon be confronted on Obamacare subsidies again as premiums rise
Senate Republicans may soon be faced with a choice on whether to vote against extending expiring federal subsidies for the Affordable Care Act (ACA or Obamacare) for a second time. This time, however, the vote would likely come after increased premiums have taken effect across the country. By then, more Americans will be facing the choice of whether to pay premiums that have doubled or tripled in some markets or lose their health coverage altogether.
Some Senate Republicans have blamed Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for putting them in this political predicament. When a bill was recently proposed in the House to extend the expiring subsidies, Johnson took a hardline approach and did not allow the bill to come for a vote. However, four House Republicans rebelled and joined House Democrats in signing a discharge position to force a vote on the issue.
Both Johnson and Senate Majority leader John Thune rejected a proposal from moderate Republicans to extend the subsidies for two years with reforms. The bill now advancing in the House is a Democrat proposal, which extends the subsidies for three years with no reforms.
