Supervisors announce 2026 Board President and VP and the holiday garbage pick-up schedule (12-15-2025)

Holiday garbage pickup schedule: This coming Thursday’s (Christmas Day) garbage route will instead be picked up on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Trash that would be picked up the following Thursday (New Year’s Day) will be picked up on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

 

Supervisors’ agenda

(Timestamp 1:38) Board President Randy Owen announced he would resign the Board President position as of Jan. 1, 2026, and that CJ Bright would resign as Vice President. In 2026, CJ Bright will serve as President and Steve Watson as Vice President. The board approved the motion.

(Timestamp 2:20) County Administrator Terry Johnson then discussed annual bids. The board accepted and rejected various bids for maintenance materials including limestone, asphalt as well as labor and delivery contracts.

(Timestamp 11:36) Board approved transfer of $250,000 to the E9-11 Fund.

(Timestamp 13:05) The crew that is repairing the courthouse clock offers a maintenance agreement for $1500 a year to keep the clock in good working order. The board approved the maintenance agreement.

Other county services

Chancery and Circuit Clerk items were approved with minimal discussion.

(Timestamp 17:00) The board approved the sale of three surplus trucks at auction and the purchase of a new 2500 RAM for the Emergency Management Agency.

(Timestamp 25:40) Tax Assessor Tameri Dunnam entered into the minutes an announcement that Union County accepts partial tax payments. The first half must be paid by February 1, the next fourth by May 1 and the last fourth by July 1.

The board then adjourned to Monday, January 5, 2026.
