Carolyn Shelton, 89
June 29, 1936 – January 5, 2026
Carolyn June McBryde Shelton passed away on January 5, 2025, at the New Albany Health and Rehab in New Albany, MS. Born on June 29, 1936, in Union County, MS, Carolyn’s life was a testament to her enduring love, kindness, and friendliness that touched everyone she met.
A devout Christian, Carolyn was a dedicated member of the Amaziah Baptist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found immense joy in attending services and participating in church activities.
As a homemaker, Carolyn created a warm and welcoming home for her family. She later took her nurturing spirit into her career, retiring from K-Mart where she was beloved by her colleagues and customers alike. Even after her retirement, her care for others continued as she cherished the time spent babysitting, with a particular soft spot for her dear grandchildren. The happiness of those little ones was her priority, and she took great pride in their every achievement.
Carolyn leaves behind a loving family: her daughter Angie Sullivan and husband Thomas; her sons Jerry Shelton and Ricky Shelton with his wife Danita; her brothers Roger McBryde and his wife Shirley, and Larry McBryde with his wife Jeri. Her legacy also lives on through her three cherished grandchildren – Ricky Shelton Jr., Amber Rickter and her husband Derek, and Harley Sullivan along with her fiance’ John Cooper – as well as her eight great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.
She now rejoins her beloved husband, Ralph Shelton, and is preceded in death by her devoted parents, Willie Richard McBryde and Claudia Rudell Dunlap McBryde, as well as her brothers Jerry Allen McBryde, Billy Linden McBryde, and Edwin Dale McBryde.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 10, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. all at United Funeral Service. Bro. Corey Hall and Bro. Jason Howell will officiate. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Gardens.
