Jimmie Lou Loftin, 97
November 15, 1928 – February 15, 2026
Eggville Community-Mrs. Jimmie Lou Loftin, one of God’s chosen children, matriarch of the Eggville Community, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, matriarch of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy has received her heavenly reward. Ms. Jimmie Lou’s faith became sight as she met her Creator from her daughter Kathy West’s residence in Eggville just before church time on Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 2026. She observed her 97th birthday on November 15, 2025. Born on November 15, 1928, in Dorsey (Itawamba Co.) to the late Tom and Mirl Hopkins Johnson, she grew up in the Ratliff Community and graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1947.
She was a devoted loving wife to Carl, and a devoted and loving mother to her children Carl Wayne and Kathy. She enjoyed her employment in manufacturing, baking at Kermit’s Bakery and working with the Three Rivers senior citizens program at the Eggville center. As an entrepreneur, she co-owned Eggville Grocery with her husband. She also taught and sold ceramics and baked many birthday and wedding cakes from her home.
Jimmie Lou enjoyed any form of arts and crafts. She was a skilled seamstress, creating many beautiful dresses, quilts and more. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. Many of her paintings now decorate the homes of her loved ones. Above all else, she was a faithful Christian woman who devoted her life to Jesus Christ and was an active member of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy for many years.
A celebration of her life and homegoing will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Union Church of God of Prophecy in Mooreville, MS with Pastor Ryan Napolo, Bro. Billy West and Bro. Lance Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday, February 17 and from Noon-service time at 2 PM on Wednesday all at the church. A graveside service will take place at the church cemetery following the service. Holland Funeral Directors are honored to be serving the friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Loftin; son Carl Wayne Loftin; parents Tom and Mirl Johnson; sister Mary Ruth Magers; and brother Tommy Johnson. She is survived by her sister Sarah Shelton; daughter Kathy West (Billy); grandchildren Barry West (Mary Ann) and Pernecia Clark (Shane); great-grandchildren Anna Carpenter (Lance), Carlee Scott (Grayson), Alex Sims (Brennan), and Devin Clark; and great-great-granddaughters Ruby Kate Carpenter and Austin Rose Scott.
