Jannie C. Brown, 74
February 18, 1952 – April 3, 2026
Jannie C. Brown, 74, of the Auburn community, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Jannie was a lady of class with a deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was born February 18, 1952, in Mississippi, to Clarence and Ada Bradley Langford.
She retired as the church secretary at Plantersville Baptist Church after more than 25 years of service. She was a member of Woodmen of the World, where she served as a chapter member and held many roles, including chapter president. She was also a member of WMU (Woman’s Missionary Union) and served in several roles in the local area. Jannie was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She was the mother of one child but a “Granny” to many.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Allen Brown of Auburn; her son, Alton Bradley Brown Sr. of Auburn, and his wife, Tami; her grandsons, Alton Bradley Brown Jr. of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and his wife, Sarah, and Schuyler Gargano of Auburn; and an “adopted” grandson, Cody Enlow of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She also leaves behind two great-granddaughters, Adalynn and Athena Brown, both of Jacksonville, North Carolina; one brother, Billie Langford of Tupelo, and his wife, Ruth; as well as many cousins in the local area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ada Langford, and her sister, Betty Jean Smith.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 542 Road 1009, Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park, 1328 Callaway Street, Tupelo, MS.
Bro. Mark Taylor of New Hope Baptist Church will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Barry Bradley, Alton Bradley Brown Jr., Steve Caygle, Cody Enlow, Schuyler Gargano, and Andy Gregory.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alton B. Brown Jr., Phill Bradley, Rusty Miller, Kenny King, the members of Woodmen of the World Chapter 130, her Sunday School class, and the caring staff of Gentiva Home Hospice.
Associated Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Brown family during their time of loss.
