Kenneth Wayne Elrod, 61
May 12, 1964 – April 16, 2026
Mooreville-Kenneth Wayne Elrod, 61, departed this life on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at NMMC Hospice in Tupelo. Kenny was born on May 12, 1964 in Tupelo to the late Willie “Bill” Elrod and Nancy Rhyne Elrod. He grew up in the Mooreville area and attended Mooreville High School graduating in l982. A computer whiz, Kenny worked in several jobs but his knowledge was used primarily in cabinet design and manufacturing, where he was known far and wide for his skills. When not on the computer, Kenny loved fishing. He became disabled several years ago and became best friends with his caretaker and sister-in-law, Christi. She drove him to places he wanted to go and tended his business for several years. To say Kenny was a bulldog fan fell short of what he really was- a raging, cowbell ringing Mississippi State Bulldog sports fan with extraordinary loyalty.
A service celebrating Kenny’s life will take place in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo at 1 PM Sunday, April 19, 2026 with his great friend, Bro. Rickey Pierce officiating . Bro. Reggie Miller, his pastor at 316 Church (formerly Crosspoint Ministries) in East Tupelo will preside over graveside service. Burial will follow in Ballardsville Cemetery in the Ballardsville Community of Itawamba Co.
Kenny is survived by his brother and sister in law, Wayne and Christi Elrod of Mooreville; his sister and brother in law, Marla “Sissy” Thompson and her husband, Joey of Peaceful Valley in Itawamba Co; his nieces, Chloe, Tiffany and Nikki and his nephew, Rhyne; great niece, Addison and 7 great nephews, Drew, Mikah, Ian, Parker , Dawson, Daxton and Waylon and special friends, Ronnie and Darlene Green of Mooreville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nancy Elrod. Kenny leaves a host of friends and other relatives.
