Presley Hugh Jones, 77
March 18, 1949 – April 24, 2026
A hard worker who loved his family, lived life simply, and found joy in the everyday blessings of life, Mr. Presley Hugh Jones, age 77, fought the good fight, kept the faith, and won the victory as he entered into his Heavenly Home on Friday evening, April 24, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved most.
Funeral Services honoring the life of this well-loved gentleman will be held at 2 PM Monday, April 27, 2026, at his beloved church home, New Covenant Christian Assembly, with Bro. Titus Mathis and his grandson, Bro. Rebon Brooks, officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday evening, April 26, 2026, from 5 PM until 9 PM. Burial will follow in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on March 18, 1949, in Brownsville, Mississippi, Mr. Presley was the son of the late Marlin Jones and Martha Lou Wilbanks Jones. He received his education from Chalybeate School and on September 27, 1971, married the love of his life, Mrs. Shirley Faye Armstrong Jones. Together they built a life centered around love, faith, hard work, and family.
A logger by trade for his entire working life, Mr. Presley believed in honest work and providing for those he loved. He spent many years working alongside Wayne Bennett for over fourteen years, as well as others throughout the years until his retirement. His hands were worn from labor, but his heart was always full of love for his family.
A Christian and faithful member of New Covenant Christian Assembly, Mr. Presley loved the Lord and lived his life with quiet faith and steady devotion. He was a trader by heart and loved spending time at First Monday, always searching for the next good bargain or friendly conversation.
The outdoors was where he found much of his peace. Whether it was fishing the pond banks, sitting on a tractor turning fresh dirt for a garden, planting seasonal vegetables, or simply rocking on the porch with a hot cup of coffee, those were the moments he loved most. He never needed much—just family close and the simple blessings of life.
Above all else, his family was the apple of his eye. He wore the titles of Papaw and Grandpa proudly, always spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Long after his chair sits empty and the porch grows quiet, his love will still be felt in every family gathering, every shared story, and every life he helped shape.
While his passing leaves an ache words cannot fully touch, there is comfort in knowing exactly where Mr. Presley is today. For many years, he longed to see his beloved Shirley again and to reunite with all those who had gone before him. One can only imagine the joy of that Heavenly reunion. Because he is there, Heaven feels a little sweeter and our desire to reach it a little stronger.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Marie Brooks (Ricky), Tina Jones (Dwayne Kimble), and Melissa Cole (Johnathan Alberson); his sons, Bill Crum, Gene Crum (Lacey), Gary Watson (Lois), Martin Watson (Lavonda), and Scottie Jones; his five sisters; one brother; twenty grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one precious great-great-grandchild on the way, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife, Mrs. Shirley Jones; his daughter, Teresa Jones; his daughter-in-law, Brenda Jones; and his three brothers.
Though our hearts grieve his absence here, we rejoice knowing for Mr. Presley, this was not goodbye—it was simply, “I’ll see you later.”
