Ervin Winford Ross, 74
March 22, 1952 – May 2, 2026
Okolona-A graveside service, with military honors, for Ervin Winford Ross, who died at his Okolona residence on Saturday, May 2, 2026, will be held at 11 AM Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Corinth National Military Cemetery with his brother in law, Bro. Kenneth Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving this family. There will be no formal visitation.
Mr. Ross was born on March 22, l952 in Memphis, the son of the late Emmett Winford Ross and Melberlene Brown Ross. He grew up in Memphis and was educated in the public schools there. He joined the U. S. Army and served over 2 ½ years being honorably discharged thereafter. Ervin later served several years in the Reserves. He spent most of his working life in area Furniture Manufacturing facilities last working for Southern Bedding Products. A Pentecostal, Erwin loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing most of his life. He was an avid sports enthusiast and seldom missed major sporting events on TV. He never married and had no children. His siblings and their children were very close to him.
Erwin is survived by his brothers, Ronnie Ross and wife Jo Nell of Saltillo and Terry Ross and wife, Dorothy of Guntown; his sister, Wanda Grimes (Eldon, deceased) of Mooreville; a special brother in law, Kenneth Whitfield; several nieces, nephews, cousins and all their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings, Janelle Joshlin, Donna Newcomb, Ricky Ross and Cheryl Whitfield.
