Nancy Carol Melton Busby, most lovingly known as “Nanna” to the ones who filled her heart with the greatest joy, peacefully departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi.
In honoring her wishes, Mrs. Nancy will be cremated, and no public services are scheduled at this time. The family greatly appreciates every prayer, act of kindness, and expression of love shown during this difficult season.
Born April 16, 1964, in Florence, Alabama, Mrs. Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Leroy and Louise Melton. She received her education through the Florence Public School System before later dedicating her life alongside her beloved husband, Mr. Paul, operating Subs Etc. for many years, until her retirement.
A Christian in faith, Mrs. Nancy was the very definition of a strong Southern woman — feisty, quick-witted, and full of personality. She could make a room laugh with her sharp sense of humor and never met a stranger anywhere she went. Though she could certainly speak her mind, it was always done with a loving heart that drew people to her naturally.
Mrs. Nancy found joy in life’s simple treasures. She loved cooking meals for the people she loved, listening to gospel music, spending time outdoors, tending to her chickens, and admiring the beauty of butterflies fluttering through the yard. Yet above all else, nothing in this world compared to the love she held for her grandchildren. Being “Nanna” was her greatest title, and she treasured every moment spent with those precious babies she adored so deeply.
Though her passing leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, the memories Mrs. Nancy created, the laughter she shared, and the fierce love she gave so freely will forever live on in the hearts of all blessed enough to know her. Her legacy of strength, determination, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family will continue for generations to come.
In addition to her devoted husband, Mr. Paul Busby, memories of Mrs. Nancy will continue to be cherished by her two daughters, Jennie Land and Lindsay Busby; one son, John Busby (Samantha); two sisters, Ethel Guy and Laura Lay; one brother, Jody Melton; and her five beloved grandchildren, Anna Browe, Bailey Coleman, Jerry Coleman, Tyler Busby, and Jeffery Busby, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
