November 30, 1945 – May 25, 2026
Elaine Clair Hellein Shaffer, age 80, peacefully departed this earthly life on Monday, May 25, 2026, at her home in New Albany, Mississippi.
In honoring her wishes, Mrs. Shaffer will be cremated, and no public services are scheduled at this time. The family kindly asks for continued prayers and thoughtful remembrance during this tender season of loss.
Born on November 30, 1945, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Shaffer was the beloved daughter of the late Donald C. and Hilda Ida Baumann Hellein. She received her education through the New Kensington School System before beginning a lifelong career in the accounting field, where she faithfully worked until her retirement.
Mrs. Shaffer possessed a vibrant personality and an adventurous spirit, always eager to learn, create, and experience the beauty life had to offer. A gifted artist, talented seamstress, and award-winning photographer, she found joy in expressing herself through creativity and treasured capturing precious moments through the lens of a camera.
Mrs. Shaffer also enjoyed traveling and exploring new opportunities, even attending culinary school simply for the love of learning. Among the many places she visited, Australia remained one of her favorite destinations. She found peace in gardening, delight in caring for her beloved horses and basset hounds, and above all else, happiness in spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Truly one of a kind, Mrs. Shaffer leaves behind a legacy of creativity, determination, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Though she will be missed beyond measure, the countless memories she created will forever live on in the hearts of those blessed to know and love her.
Those left to cherish her precious memory include one son, Robert Randall Shaffer Jr. and wife, Elizabeth; one daughter, Mandy Sue Shaffer; and four beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Randall Shaffer Sr.; and one sister, Greta Hellein.
