Tupelo-Virginia Kathryn Gillespie Birchfield, 76, died Friday, May 29, 2026, in the ER at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The Red Bay, Alabama native was a Nurse for over 38 years, before retiring. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where she was faithful until her husband, Donny “Don” Birchfield, died in 2022.

A Service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday, and continue until service time. A full obituary will be forthcoming on Monday. (662 840 5000)
