Lynette Gadd, 82
August 25, 1943 – June 12, 2026
Lynette Porter “Sissy” Rakestraw Gadd passed away on June 12, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born on August 25, 1943, in New Albany, Mississippi, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and creativity.
Lynette was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Wallerville Baptist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided the way she cared for others and carried herself each day. She was a woman who valued family, friendship, and the simple joys of home, and she will be remembered for the warmth and grace she shared with those around her.
She retired after many years of service as a furniture factory employee, where she was known for her steady work ethic and dependable nature. Outside of work, Lynette found great joy in caring for her home and making it a welcoming place for family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, decorating her home, and gathering loved ones together for special times of fellowship and conversation. She especially loved family gatherings, where her presence helped create lasting memories for everyone who attended.
Lynette also had a deep love for gardening and flowers, and she took great pride in the beauty she created with her hands. She enjoyed making floral reefs and expressing her creativity in ways that brought comfort and delight to others. Her talents, along with her gentle spirit, reflected the loving and kind person she was throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Gadd, and by her parents, J. R. Rakestraw and Toy Blanche Pickens Rakestraw. Their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Lynette is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Hicks and her husband Tim, Lisa Campbell and her husband Billy, who is deceased, and Gail McCullough. She also leaves behind her sisters, Edna Goudy and her husband Alan, and Carolyn Hampton and her husband Wayne; her brother, Johnny Rakestraw and his wife Kay; and her grandchildren, Ginger Young, Christian Campbell, Will Campbell, Jacob Moody, Makayla Benefield, Montana Moody, and Carly Robbins. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews, all of whom will cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.
Those who knew Lynette will remember her as a loving, kind, and creative woman whose life was centered on family and faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her, and her memory will be treasured always.
