James Ervin Brown, III, known to family and friends as Jim, passed away on July 13, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, at the age of 62.
Jim was born on June 21, 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of the late James Ervin Brown, Jr. and Jo Anna Nolen Brown. He was also preceded in death by his half brother, Gary Brown. He is survived by his mother, Jo Anna Brown; his brother, Mark Brown and his wife, Bridget; his half sister, Lori Logan; and his half brother, Neal Brown.
In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he found peace in the outdoors. He also had a remarkable artistic side and was very talented at drawing. His creativity was one of his defining qualities, and it gave him a unique way of seeing and expressing the world around him. Whether through his artwork or through the way he lived his life, Jim showed a thoughtful and creative spirit. Jim was a member of Ingomar Baptist Church.
Jim was also very proud of his recovery and of the progress he made through Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed attending AA meetings and valued the fellowship, encouragement, and strength he found there. His commitment to recovery reflected his courage and his desire to keep moving forward. He faced life with honesty and perseverance, and his journey was an important part of who he was.
Those who knew Jim will remember him as a creative man who enjoyed life and gave his best in all things. He had a quiet strength, a generous heart, and a way of making his presence known through his character and his actions. His family and friends will cherish the memories they shared with him and the many ways he touched their lives.
Jim’s life was one of effort, resilience, and personal growth. He will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service. Dr. Terry Cutrer and Dr. Thomas Magers, II will officiate. Burial will be at Ingomar Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
