Monica Lane Gresham Kennedy, known lovingly as Monica, passed away on September 24, 2026, in Senatobia, Mississippi, at the age of 52.
Monica was born on January 28, 1974, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Paul Michael “Mike” Gresham and Charlotte McCauley Gresham. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was marked by kindness, strength, and a deep love for others. She carried herself with grace and warmth, and those who knew her will remember her for the genuine care she extended to everyone around her.
Monica graduated from Wynne High School in Wynne, Arkansas, after attending W. P. Daniel High School through the ninth grade. She continued her education at Northeast Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Nursing degree. Her commitment to learning and service helped shape a career that reflected both her compassion and her strong work ethic.
Throughout her nursing career, Monica worked at numerous hospitals in various states and also served as a travel nurse. She found great purpose in caring for others and was deeply devoted to her profession. Nursing was not simply a job to her, but a calling. She treated patients with patience, dignity, and compassion, and she made a lasting impression on coworkers and those under her care.
Above all else, Monica treasured her family. She is survived by her husband, Greg Kennedy, and her two sons, Cade and Conner Kennedy, whom she adored beyond measure. Her boys were the joy of her life, and she loved watching them play sports and grow into the young men they are today. She is also survived by her loving father, Mike Gresham and Judy; her bonus sister, Patience Hester Gregory and Shane; her bonus brother, Justin Hester and Lindsey; her bonus nieces and nephews; and her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She shared especially close bonds with her family and held each of them close to her heart. She also had a special group of girlfriends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte McCauley Gresham, as well as her grandparents. Monica carried the love of her mother with her throughout her life, and that bond remained a meaningful part of who she was.
Monica was known for her artistic spirit and creative hands. She enjoyed being artsy and crafty, and she could spend hours working on hobbies that brought her joy. Her creativity was one more expression of her thoughtful and nurturing nature. She also loved spending time with her family, making memories, and being present for the people she loved most.
Monica Lane Gresham Kennedy will be remembered for her generous heart, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering care for others. Her life was a beautiful example of love in action, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Services to honor Monica’s life will be Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 3:00 pm at United Funeral Service, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Bro. Derick Finley and Bro. Roger Stacy will officiate. Northeast MS Nurse Honor Guard will honor Monica for her service. Burial will be in the Ashland City Cemetery.
