Public hearing set for zoning change
(Timestamp 0:54) Bill Mattox from NALGW sought a pay request for the creation of an electric vehicle charging station. Mattox said the project should be wrapped up in another month or so. The board approved payment of $142704.84.
Mattox also requested to update the city’s sewer use ordinance. One of the changes would be the addition of pH testing parameters (with acceptable parameters being a minimum pH of 6 and a maximum of 9). Another change was to charges for violations measured in pounds, increasing from 5 cents/lb to 25 cents/lb. For violations measured in parts per billion (ppb), charges for violations would go from $1000/day to $2000/day.
City Attorney Regan Russell said the proposed changes need to be submitted in writing and a vote must be held at least 14 days after submission.
(Timestamp 5:05) Police Chief Chris Robertson requested approval to hire John Weathers at NAPD. The board approved the hire.
(Timestamp 6:08) Fire Chief Mark Whiteside raised a recent equipment issue with a hydraulic cutter used for rescue in vehicular accidents. The cutter was several years old and the cost of replacing the part that failed was high and availability was limited. NAFD determined it put be better to purchase a new generation cutter. The new cutter cost $8,421.02 and insurance paid $1673.50. The remainder of $6,747.52 came from the fire protection fund. The board approved the emergency purchase.
(Timestamp 8:16) Building Inspector Eric Thomas requested to set a public hearing for December 2, 2025. The hearing is on the rezoning of 302 Moss Hill Dr. from SN-8 (suburban neighborhood) to INST (Institutional). Another hearing will take place the same day for the 2024 building code updates. The board approved setting the public hearings.
The consent agenda items were approved. The storm shelter item under action agenda was addressed this time, but there were no updates.
