Local incident results in arrest of Baptist Hospital-Union County CEO
From Valerie Burrow, Communications Coordinator of Baptist Memorial Hospital’s Corporate Office in Memphis.
“We are aware that an unfortunate incident occurred at our hospital involving our CEO Walter Grace. Because we are reviewing this situation, we can’t discuss any details at this time. However, we do expect the situation to be resolved favorably.”
An earlier statement had also been distributed locally approximately 7:15 PM through Lori Goode, Baptist Hospital-Union County’s Director of Human Services.
From Chris Anderson, Vice President of Operations, Mississippi Market:
“As you may have heard, a situation occurred in our emergency department involving a patient’s blood draw on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately, Mr. Grace, our CEO and Administrator, was taken into custody, but was released on his own recognizance. Based on the information we have, we believe he acted appropriately as an advocate for our ER staff. He returned to the hospital by ambulance as a patient. While he is recuperating, Randy White has been asked to assist with the day-to-day operations in his absence. Please direct any questions or concerns to him. Also, please keep Mr. Grace in your thoughts and prayers.”
