Bad wreck with injuries at Hwy 30 & 15 in New Albany and another on I-22
Shortly after today’s Freedom Fest in downtown New Albany wrapped up, a two car wreck occurred at the intersection of Highways 15 & 30, near Wild Bill’s Union Grocery.
New Albany Fire Chief Mark Whiteside informed NEMiss.News that NAFD responded to a 2-vehicle accident at Highways 15 and 30. Fire crews extricated one person from a vehicle who is currently in the care of Care Flight – North Mississippi Medical Center. There were 5 people total involved in the accident. Their ages and conditions have not been released, other than one patient being transferred by helicopter to Tupelo and another to Baptist- Union County by ambulance.
A helicopter could be seen circling over North Side shortly before 11 pm. A trusted source tells us that the helicopter had to land in the highway to pick up an injured person.
Shortly before the two-car accident at 15 and 30, another accident occurred at the 73-mile marker on westbound I-22. Emergency crews are also at the scene there.
More info will be posted when/if it becomes available.
