Cold rainy weather did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm or the turnout for a ballroom dancing “get acquainted” party, Saturday, April 30, in downtown New Albany.

The Northeast MS Chapter #6125 of USA Dance held its get acquainted party at the Event Hall of New Albany. About 25 people were present. The event included a 30-minute “mini-lesson” and 90 minutes of general dancing.

According to information distributed at the event, “USA Dance is not a social club, but rather a broad-based national organization serving as a catalyst to establish a great variety of dance related programs and encourage more people to become involved and enjoy the many benefits of dancing — fun- fitness and social interaction.”

USA Dance emphasizes its participants learn to dance with “zero intimidation” and at a low cost. USA Dance members paid $10 and non-members paid $12 to participate in the event. It is expected the Northeast MS Chapter will be holding monthly events similar to the one Saturday night.
