,

A man pulled a handgun on another individual in New Albany Saturday morning. The man who pulled the gun told New Albany police he was startled when an individual approached him.

The man who pulled the gun said he was surprised and afraid when he saw the man standing near him. The man with the handgun said he was bent over putting air in the tire of a motor vehicle at the convenience store (former B-Quik) at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Hwy. 15 North when the other individual appeared next to him.

According to reports, the man who approached the individual who drew the gun made no threatening remarks or gestures.

The man who pulled the gun was not taken into custody. The person who walked up on him who he said frightened him was briefly taken into police custody. It was determined that he may have been a mentally compromised individual who lived nearby. His family did not know he had left home.

After police talked to the individual who walked up to the man, the individual was released without charges to the custody of his family.

Although the incident was reported on police radio as an attempted robbery, there was no robbery or one attempted.

The man who pulled the gun had a lawful permit to carry it.
