Betty Weeden, 73

October 11, 1949 – September 9, 2023

New Albany-Betty Mae Wooten Weeden, 73, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Magnolia Place Assisted Living. She was born October 11, 1949 to William Elbert and Lula Ganger Wooten. She was married to the late John William Weeden Sr. for 47 years. Ms. Betty was one of the hardest working ladies you would ever meet. She sewed at Brookwood Furniture for 38 years, and worked at the school cafeteria for 13 years after retiring. She loved to travel and was always ready to go. Ms. Betty was a fantastic cook and had the best chicken-and-dressing and sweet tea around. She loved and cherished her family and will be greatly missed by them. She was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church.
Services to honor a life well lived will be on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service with Dr. Terry Cutrer and Bro. Rob Jones officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00pm till 9:00pm and Thursday from 1:00pm till the start of the service at 3:00.
Those left to carry on her memories are her daughter, Sherra McElroy (Bryan) and son, John William Weeden, Jr. (Gina) one sister Dorothy Robbins, three grandchildren, Lauren Bullock (Konner) Hannah McElroy, and Bryan McElroy II, and one great grand-child, Lulabeth Bullock
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister Annie Ruth McMillen.
