Buford Wesley Camp, 87, resident of Myrtle passed away peacefully Wednesday October 18, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral Services honoring Mr. Camps life will be 2 PM Friday October 20, 2023, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care. Visitation will be 1 PM until Service time Friday October 20, 2023, at New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care.

Born February 14, 1936, in New Albany, Mr. Camp was the son of the late Tom Wesley and Tommie Hill Camp. He received his education from New Harmony Public School and was married to his beloved wife, Marilyn Willard Camp who survives. Mr. Camp had a strong work ethic and was employed with Piper Impact for 39 years before retiring as a supervisor with them.

A Christan, Mr. Camp in earlier years found pleasure in water skiing and riding motorcycles with his wife. “Papa” was known best for his strong-willed personality, “telling it like it is” philosophy, and someone who never sugar coated anything. If you wanted the honest opinion Mr. Camp was the one to ask. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and most importantly his dogs and cats, which he named all “Hooty” and could often be found having conversations with them. He lived a long full life and will be missed by all those who knew him.

In addition to his wife, those left to cherish his memories include two daughters, Becky Grant and Gail Tiger, three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and all his canine companions and feline friends named “Hooty”.

He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Lorene Huffstatler and Louise Mills, and two brothers, Marvin Camp and Carl Camp.
