Christopher Robert Thornton, 44

July 10, 1979 – April 14, 2024

Christopher (Chris) Robert Thornton, 44, received his wings on the glorious Sunday morning of April 14, 2024. Chris fought the good fight with strength, courage, and no complaints. He never lost his smile or his zeal for life. Chris loved his fiancée, children, family and friends without exception. His circle was small so consider yourself blessed if you were allowed to be a part of his life.

Chris was born on July 10, 1979 to Robert Thornton and Eyvonne Poole in Tupelo, MS. He was always the life of the party and loved to share wisdom of life lessons with others. His journey included graduating from Shannon High School, earning his commercial driver’s license and setting up his own LLC trucking company. Chris loved to relax and would vacation anywhere there was beautiful scenery and the ocean.

Chris leaves many to cherish his memories and live out his legacy. He is survived by his fiancée, Mary Heard, daughter: Natalia “Punkin” Thornton and his sons Christopher J. Thornton (Christian), Christopher Robert Thornton II, grandchildren Caydence and Tylonee Thornton. His surviving siblings include Bridgette Adley, Mark Edwards, Clark Edwards, Shelain Mumphrey, Kimberley Edwards, Robin “Trina” Thornton, Michael Thornton and a special nephew brother, Dorron Edwards as well as a host of extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Chris was proceeded in death by his father- Robert , his mother -Yvonne, and his big brother – Stefan Edwards as well as his grandparents.

Chris will be remembered for his joking nature, simple straight forwardness, his kindness, and his love for grilling – he considered himself a master chef. He spoke his mind and felt the most important thing he could do was to guide others on the right path based on his life’s journey. He will indeed be missed but I can hear him saying, “I’m Straight” .
