County supervisors hear NEMCC president, announce new meeting schedule
New Albany, MS- Although not on the agenda,an appearance by the president of Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) took about half the Monday meeting time of the county board.
Ricky G. Ford, president of NEMCC, spoke to the Union County Board of Supervisors for about ten minutes Monday morning. Ford distributed 22 pages of printed material to the supervisors and a few others at the meeting. The material included general and statistical information about the NEMCC operation using graphs, color photographs and prose. The primary campus of NEMCC is in Booneville and the college operates a campus in New Albany.
Information distributed by Ford indicates the New Albany campus had an enrollment of 112 full-time students and 63 part-time students in the spring of this year. Northeast is one of 15 community colleges operated by the nine-member Mississippi Community College Board.
The county board dealt quickly with routine business, mainly approving fees and other expense items.
Board of Supervisors President Randy Owen announced at the end of the meeting that the board would stop meeting every Monday morning as has been the custom until now. Instead the county board will meet the first and third Mondays of each month at 10 a.m.
