David Eugene “Sonny” Miller, 83

April 8, 1940 – November 28, 2023 

Mr. David Eugene Miller, 83, of Laws Hill, MS, transitioned on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Oxford.

Mr. David Eugene “Sonny” Miller was born to the late Harvey and Pauline Miller in Lafayette County, Oxford, Mississippi on April 8, 1940.

A devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend, he lived a life of simplicity and took seriously his role as a provider, protector and priest.

David accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and attended New Hope M.B. Church.  His last employment was at Mulay Plastics in Holly Springs, MS where he retired from in 2004.

David met Clara Tunstall and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on July 30, 1983.

David is forever remembered by his loving wife of 40 years, Clara Miller of Holly Springs, MS; one son, David Anthony (Ellen) Miller of Huntsville, AL, five daughters; Jacqueline (Keith) Marshall of Memphis, TN, Teresa Miller of Holly Springs, MS, Melissa (Bertrial) Totten of Byhalia, MS, Deonco (Joe) Gillard of Oxford, MS, and Krista  (Milton) Jenkins of Augusta, GA, one sister, Royetta Bennett of Jackson, MS. David and Clara also had two bonus daughters; Brittney Tunstall of Byhalia, MS and Tierica Tunstall of Memphis, TN. He was also blessed with 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grand-children and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Special life-long friends of 70+ years; Charlie “Hunter” Walker, Wesley “Bubba” Wilson and Clyde Stewart, plus a host of  aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; Harvey and Pauline, four brothers; Kenneth, Jaime, Theodis and Jesse, one sister; Queen Esther and one granddaughter; Melanie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at New Hope M.B. Church (Laws Hill), 2984 Highway 310, Waterford, MS  38685.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
