David Lee Medlin, 80

January 19, 1943 – December 31, 2023

Mr. David Lee Medlin, age 80, resident of Walnut, passed away peacefully on Sunday night, December 31, 2023 in the comfort of his home.



Funeral services honoring the life Mr. Medlin will be at 1 PM, Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Jacob Ralph and Bro. Ray Hoggard officiating.

Visitation will be from 11 AM until 1 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 with burial following in the Oakland Cemetery near Walnut.

Mr. Medlin was born January 19, 1943, in Blue Mountain MS, the son of the late Ed and Alba Wommack Medlin and attended the Wabash Arkansas Public School System. On September 1, 1966, Mr. Medlin enlisted in the United States Army and served his county honorably during the Vietnam War Period. He attended Ole Enon Primitive Baptist Church and was employed for many years in the furniture manufacturing industry with the BenchCraft Corporation.

A family man, Mr. Medlin found great pleasure in building and riding trikes, flying radio-controlled airplanes, watching the Grand Ole Opry and tending to his beloved dogs.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of twenty eight years, Cathy Medlin, one daughter, Judith Wammack (Cecil) of Walnut, two sisters, Sandy Lewis (Ed) of Mattawan MI, Cindy Goodell of Cordova TN, two sister in laws, Patti Medlin of Southaven MS and Cora Medlin of Hurst TX, five grandchildren, Charles Fuselier (Kayla), Randy Sanford (Felicia), Robert Sanford (Stephanie), Katie Ralph (Jacob), and Paige Moore (Cameron), ten great grandchildren, David Taplin, Meloni, Florence, Charles Jr. and Wayne Fuselier, and Lexie, Allie, Braxton, Tatum and Christa Carol Sanford.

Mr. Medlin is also preceded in death by two daughters, Lisa Sanford and Wendy Brock, one sister, Juanita Medlin, two brothers, James and Charles Medlin, one grandson, Jessie Taplin, three great grandsons, Derek Taplin, Hunter and Brayden Sanford.
