Dorothy “Dot” Kinard, 84

Shannon-Miss Dorothy Sue “Dot” Kinard, lifelong Shannon resident, departed this life on Saturday, June 21, 2026, from the Martin Greenhouse at United Methodist Senior Services-Tupelo. She was 84 years old. Dorothy was born on May 4, 1942, in Shannon to the late Alton Beachum Kinard and Jeffie Jane Doty Kinard. Dorothy graduated from Shannon High School in 1960 and attended Northwest Junior College where she received an AA in Education. She spent most of her years as a caregiver for the Elderly with her retirement employment being at the Mitchell Center at United Methodist Senior Services. Dorothy was a quiet gentle soul who lived her life by faith and optimism. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Shannon and enjoyed the fellowship of the Women’s Group, which were her best friends. Dorothy was an avid conversationalist enjoying her phone and caring for the Elderly.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 10 AM Friday, June 26, 2026, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church-Shannon with Bro Tim Horton and Bro. John Davis officiating. Private family burial will precede the service at Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their friends.
Aunt Dorothy is survived by 4 nieces, Martha Hood of Shannon, Julie Armstrong of Dime Box, Texas Sandy Renslaw of Lutz, Florida and Teresa Hamlet of Hernando, MS and their families. She leaves her beloved nieces and their families and friends in Shannon as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joan Hood and brother, Roy Kinard.
