Dorothy “Dotty” Lain Fleming Chaney, 76, of Tupelo, passed away on January 13, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born on December 1, 1947, in Corinth, Mississippi, to Jacob Braden Fleming, Jr. and Dorthy Lain Fleming.



Dotty pursued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi. She embraced the values of education, curiosity, and community.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James Terry Chaney, their loving daughter Leigh Ann Chaney Estep, and Leigh Ann’s husband Larry Allen Estep, Jr., all of Tupelo. Dotty leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including her three cherished grandchildren, James David Estep, Catherine Lain Estep, and Braden Henry Estep.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and the imprint of her warm and caring spirit on the hearts of those who knew her.

Dorothy was a member of Corinth Presbyterian Church. Dotty found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid cross-stitcher, creating intricate works of art that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. Her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends, who relished the delicious meals she lovingly prepared.

Dotty’s heart extended to her furry companion, Sam, a beloved Malamute dog who brought immeasurable joy and companionship into her life.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Dotty’s life at the visitation, which will be held at Associated Family Funeral Home in Tupelo on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. During this time, memories will be shared, and the love that Dotty brought into the world will be remembered.
