VERONA – Dorothy Mae Tartt Daniel, known by all as Dottie” passed away Wednesday May 27, 2026, at 77 years of age. She was born May 12, 1949, in Brewer, MS, at home to the late John Belton “Bud” Tartt and Ruby Carnell Tartt of Nettleton. MS. Dottie was married to the love of her life, the late Rick Daniel (Pop) of New Albany, MS. His parents were the late Bro. Robert Daniel (Barbara).
She retired after a long career as one of the Greatest Hairstylist around. She owned Dottie’s Hair Design in Nettleton, MS. She had many special clients and made sweet lifetime friendships through the years. Dottie was one of a kind.
She loved spending time with her sisters, the late Dianne Loveless of Nettleton, MS. Nan Murry of Nettleton, MS, Paulette Bryant of Slidell, LA., Nancy Pennington of Nettleton, MS and Pam Barnette of Houston, MS. The past year or two, a favorite of hers was girls’ night at The Friendship House with Nan and Nancy. She enjoyed it so much. She had a host of precious nieces and nephews. Dottie loved to garden and to cook, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her Pop. A favorite of theirs was eating take out Outback together. Her favorite pal was their beagle, Charlie who she adored. In the past, she would love telling stories of her and the sisters’s growing up. She also never met a stranger. She loved her mom and dad wholeheartedly. She spent most of her time in the salon and with her family. She was always up for a trip to any fish and steak house.
She had 4 daughters, Tammy Mayer, Tina Laurenzi, Tiffany Shavers, and Tabitha Curry (Justin) all of Tupelo, Ms.; several grandchildren. Lauren Knight, (Hunter), Justin Mayer (Tina), Michael Mayer (Janet), Bailey Rayfield (Will), CJ Holcomb, Liam Shavers, Kobi Curry (Skyler), Kyler Hitt (Ethan), Kacyn Curry (Fiancé Hunter Jones), Kellum Curry and Kemp Curry;
Great-grandchildren: Jaxon Knight, Caden Knight, Paizley Grace Knight, Kayleigh Mayer, Ethan Hoxie, Wesley Rayfield and Dalton Glover; a very special brother in law, Randy Daniel (Tammy) of New Albany, MS, who was always there and a helping hand.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 30, 2026 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Brian Dowden, of Crosspointe Fellowship Church in Nettleton officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 AM Saturday at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their longtime friends.
