Eisenhauer Band and Relay for Life Bringing Music to New Albany Friday, April 22

A couple of musical events of note will be taking place this coming Friday night (April 22) in Downtown New Albany.

The Eisenhauer Band, who’ve played to a number of enthusiastic crowds in New Albany over the past year, will be returning to The Basement for an all-ages show this Friday night. Amelia Eisenhauer, the 16-year-old prodigy fronting the band, has just recently returned from Los Angeles where she was a top 20 contestant on American Idol. While Mississippian Trent Harmon went on to win the contest, during her time on the show Amelia gained a large national following and is now working on a new album to be released this fall.

Amelia will be accompanied by her mother and brother, Rhonda and Andy, as well as Mark Yacovone on piano, Jeremy Clement on percussion, and producer, Bryan Ward, on various instruments.

The show at The Basement (an events venue at 100 E Bankhead – under the Trails & Treads building) will begin around 8:30 pm with a possible earlier acoustic set on the Trailhead at dusk. Refreshments like various sodas, tonic water and club soda, as well as lemons and limes and some light food will be available.

Relay for Life, the annual Cancer Society fundraising event, will begin at 6pm on Friday, April 22nd, at Park Along the River downtown. The event will feature a run, food cooked on site as well as music from a host of local bands and performers such as the New Albany Ballet, Hands of Praise (Victory Church) and the New Albany High School Band as well as short sets by Wooden Groove and Cadillac Funk.

Both events are in walking distance from one another and the events, coupled with the restaurants downtown, can make for an enjoyable evening in this pretty little city.
