Ella Strother, 80
March 11, 1946 – May 21, 2026
Ella Strother, born in Iuka, Mississippi, a lifelong resident of her beloved hometown, was the cherished daughter of the late George Briggs and Lucille Joyner Briggs. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Ella built a life deeply rooted in family: faith, and service to others. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched everyone blessed to know her.
Ella, a retired cook and a gifted baker, was known for her warm spirit. Her kitchen was her canvas, and she poured love into every dish she prepared. She attended cosmetology school, enjoyed online shopping, arts and crafts, and sharing her creativity with the people she loved. Whether she was baking something sweet, crafting something beautiful, or offering a kind word, Ella brought comfort and joy to those around her. A proud supporter of the Alabama collegiate teams, she cheered with passion and loyalty.
She is preceded in death husband John W. Strother and her brother, Gary Swan Briggs.
She is the cherished mother of Tracy Allen May, Timothy Scott Strother, Tonia Danette Brooks, and Theresa Lynette (Eduardo) Wells; four sisters: Johnnie Sue Mitchell, Georgia Mae (Author) Polley, Brenda Gayle Johnson, and Naomi Ruth Spears, her grandchildren: Derrick Brooks Ir., Tyrus Gerard Woods, Grace May, and Eduardo Wells Il: great-grandchildren Isaiah Brooks and Summer Dior Boyd, a special love one, Sylvester Mabry; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
